BASC stands for Business Administration Students Club. BASC
undertakes almost all the activities at IBA. Starting from seminars, whether they be
social events or pure enjoyment picnics, BASC is responsible for all such activities.
To function, BASC is composed of quite a few societies. Every society is supposed to perform a specific task. Say for example that the various seminar societies are responsible for holding their respective seminars. The tenure of these societies end with BASC after one year, when they are re-elected by the Students' Councillor, Ms. Nabila Arif.
Prof. Fazle Hasan is the President BASC 1999-2000. Following him is Aziz Jindani who is the Vice President of BASC 1999-2000. Faisal Potrik and Manoj Sithani are serving as the General Secretary and Treasurer BASC 1999-2000.
BASC organises a large number of events every semester. The regular features include:
Semester Picnic
Aladdin Amusement Park trip
LD (Laser Disk) Movie Shows
Semester Mela
Canteen Projects
Cinema
Color Day celebrations
Sports competitions in cricket, table tennis, snooker and all board games
plus, a whole lot of other activities as well.
BASC believes in providing entertainment along with education.
It aims at providing a memorable semester to the students. More importantly it inculcates
confidence, sense of responsibility and quick thinking on the feet in students by
providing them opportunities to express their abilities.
Whatever BASC does, it does it with one objective in mind - YOU.
Can you become a part of the BASC? Why not! BASC is elected for two semesters. When re-elections are sought by Ms. Nabila Arif, interviews for various societies are also conducted. If you have the will to make your mark, you can apply. Forms are available with Nadeem (the photocopier).
BASC 1999-2000 is important because it is rare that all the
three office bearers come from the same class. Yes, the Vice President, General Secretary
and Treasurer all came from the Class of 2000 (currently BBA6). Here is a brief intro to
the office bearers.
VICE PRESIDENT |
AZIZ JINDANI |
BBA VI/II |
Aziz is an excellent public speaker. He has this magical ability to mesmerize you with the way he talks (so be careful!). Not only is he active in BASC, he is an absolutely diligent student as well (that's not just for the writing. He is a good delegator and above all, knows how to get his work done. Yes, one more thing, he is the current Table Tennis champion as well. A wondeful guy to have as a VP. |
GENERAL SECRETARY |
M. FAISAL POTRIK |
BBA VI/I |
Faisal, contrary as to what the glasses suggest, is not a bookworm. He is quick like anything whrn it comes to solutions to banal problems. He is good at cricket and what's more, a wonderful person. |
TREASURER |
MANOJ SITHANI |
BBA VI/I |
Manoj is trustworthy and honest, and this is what his job as the Treaurer requires him to be. Being a hostilite, he sees things from a different angle and often pulls solutions to problems out of thin air. He loved cricket and boy, what a lovely smile he has! |
